  • Our friend Hoppy Kamiyama recently stopped in our store to drop off a bunch of cds from his wonderful God Mountain back catalogue, which has been in limbo for a while. This includes the first s/t Ground Zero with Zorn & Eye as guests, both Koenji cds (Tatsuya from Ruins solo project), all five cds by Hoppy's all-star improv unit Optical 8 (first two feature Ribot & John King on wailing guitars, the last three feature Otomo on guitars & turntables & Reck from Friction on bass) and Hoppy's great solo cd compilation 'Groove-allegiance'. All of these releases are $16., except for the final Optical 8 which is a double live cd for $26. The self-titled Tipographica cd, one of the greatest Japanese progressive bands of all time also came in & is selling for $18. - much cheaper than anywhere else, if you can even find it!

    A couple of additions to our recommended calender: 

    PETER KOWALD & WILLIAM PARKER -two masters of the contrabass will play a free duo performance at the Goethe House (83rd & 5th Ave.) at 7pm this Friday March 17th!! Don't miss this!!

    Guitar god NELS CLINE was just added to the Tonic calender for Saturday March 25th at 8pm for one set only! Joining him will be Vinny Golia on reeds, Ken Filiano on bass & Gregg Bendian on drums. Gregg's new Interzone cd w/ Nels & Alex Cline should be at DMG by this Friday and Nels' new cd 'Inkling' on Cryptogramophone is due to be released in May, even though it is advertised currently.
