| Shalom and happy new year to all friends
of DMG! Tonight was the first MASADA gig at Tonic of 1999 and once again
they knocked us all out. They played two pieces of as yet unrecorded gems-
so surprises are still in store. Fans have come from as far as Arizona,
LA, Vancouver & Montreal! Besides the next two nights, they will be
playing at the Roulette benefit on January 30th at Lincoln Center.
According to Zorn, the only other time they will play in NY this year,
will not be until next September. Zorn is finally working on the selections
for the live Masada series on Tzadik, the only definite gig chosen so far
is live in Jerusalem. He asked me to select my favorite ten Masada sets
for consideration, what a task!
DMG is currently promoting about a half dozen upcoming gigs, the excitement continues to build with:
This cd was recorded in July of 1996 and Zorn put Haino together with the Masada rhythm team of Greg Cohen acoustic bass and Joey Baron on drums. Haino is playing a semi-hollow body electric guitar, so this offering is kind of Haino’s jazz release. It is odd to hear Haino playing so melodically, quietly, spinning nice free jazzy strumming. Greg & Joey lay back and provide a fine cushion for Haino’s guitar to play restrained fragments, flowing in and around, but never exploding or even getting very loud. There is a 31 minute cut called "Never Did I Imagine That There Exists an Eight-Layered Handicap," which is like a long episode that unfolds at a slow pace, like fish swimming naturally down a river, unforced and just flowing freely. March brings us yet another extreme side of Haino, a trio with Bill Laswell on el. bass & Rashid Ali on drums on Tzadik. Zorn claims this next one is the most intense one yet. $18. 2. GLENN SPEARMAN-Blues for Falasha (Tzadik 7130) Glenn Spearman was a truly spirited tenor sax blaster who completely blew me away the few times I caught him, once with Cecil Taylor Octet at the old Knit and once at the new Knit with his own Hurricane Trio. He had that burnin’ energy inside and knew how to unleash it. This recording is named after the Falasha-a tribe of black Jews from Ethiopia, who some consider to be not actual Jews. Glenn also was of a mixed breed, half Jewish and half black, was inspired by their plight and this recording also explores a search for identity. The ensemble on this cd is an offshoot of Glenn’s Double Trio with both Larry Ochs & Glenn on tenors, the twin drums of Donald Robinson & William Winant, the piano of Chris Brown and the bass of Lisle Ellis. It begins with a profound and deeply moving recitation by Glenn with layers of spiritual chanting swirling around his voice. Each of the four pieces build in intensity, making way for the final almost half hour journey of the spirits-entitled "Seed Sounds". In a sense, this is reminiscent of John Coltrane’s inner spiritual journey, the way "A Love Supreme" takes us both back through history and forward into the future at the same time. The entire ensemble coalesces into an incredibly powerful force of reckoning, thunderous, breathtaking and finally to the top of the mountain! Sadly, this was Glenn Spearman’s final studio date as he passed away in October of last year. This release does capture something very special, allowing each of us climb on board of Glenn’s ascent. $14. 3. AMBARCHI & AVENAIM- The Alter Rebbe's Nigun (Tzadik 7131) Tzadik is proud to present one of the most extreme, passionate and fascinating recordings we've yet released - a brilliant new addition to the Radical Jewish Culture series. Formerly orthodox Hasidic students of Talmud and Tanya, these two members of the Australian punk unit PHLEGM have brought together influences from Boredoms and the Japanese noise scene, traditional Jewish Nigunim and Yiddish theatre, Marc Ribot, Ornette Coleman and countless others to create a new world of twisted dreams an startling sonorities- A must for all lovers of weirdness. $14 (taken from Tzadik solicitation sheet) 4. YAGI MICHIYO-Shizuku (Tzadik 7218) One of the most versatile masters of the koto, Michiyo Yagi has performed in rock bands, jazz groups, movie soundtracks, classical ensembles, noise improvisations and of course Japanese traditional and folk groups. Here, using both orthodox and unorthodox techniques, she takes the koto to an exciting new world of her own invention incorporating influences from traditional Japanese and Korean music as well as the American maverick tradition of Partch, Cage, Nancarrow and Terry Riley. Astounding new music for an ancient instrument by one of the world's most adventurous and accomplished contemporary koto players. $14 (taken from Tzadik solicitation sheet) 5. SUSIE IBARRA & ASSIF TSAHAR-Home Cookin’ (Hopscotch 1) This is a joyous release of beautiful free music from our favorite couple. Susie is everyone’s favorite drummer & percussionist around these parts, her playing is multi-dimensional, swirling around her drumset, creating environments with varied ethnic percussion like balafons, thumb pianos, kulintag, djembe and toy gamelan. She has a unique way of holding her sticks and uplifting an entire ensemble or just doing these magical duets. Her husband and musical partner-Assif Tsahar has also come a long way from his hard free blowing beginnings to where he also has refined & expanded his array of sax sounds, adding a flute and even some violin to spice things up. Most of this work was recorded at the Knit studio and Sasha has done a nice job of capturing these special spirits, warm & pure. Interspersed between some of these sections are short bits of concentrated duos recorded at the couple’s home where they deal with one instrument at a time, like sonic seasoning. This home cookin’ sure is a delight, so dig in serve it up. Susie & Assif are on tour as I type this up, don’t miss’em! $14. 6. WHAT WE LIVE/LARRY OCHS TRIO-Quintet for a Day (New World 80553) with Dave Douglas and Wadada Leo Smith!! This is the third release by Larry Ochs’ trio-What We Live which consists of Larry from Rova’s tenor & sopranino saxes, Lisle Ellis on bass & Donald Robinson on drums. This same trio has also been a part of Rova’s extended ensemble version of Coltrane’s "Ascension", as well as half of the Glenn Spearman Double Trio. For this new quintet release, Larry has added two master trumpet heroes-Leo Smith-whose career goes back to the 70’s-AACM, loft jazz…through his amazing tribute to electric Miles co-led by Henry Kaiser from last year and for the first time together with our local hero-Dave Douglas-from Masada & too many of his own successful projects to mention here! Dave says this was a blast to record and the evidence is in the way it all flows so perfectly throughout. This is an improv date, but the playing is so focused, so deep, it is hard to tell. Everyone is listening ever so closely and responding to each nuance as it occurs. Although Leo & Dave are recorded on different channels so one can tell who’s who, what’s interesting is that they both are Miles influenced with a warm smooth blast one moment, to the opposite end with small odd smears, muted notes and every other genre/sound they can come up with the next, a match-no doubt-made in heaven. Everyone here is always on their toes, reaching for the stars. Both of Larry Ochs’ saxes constantly push thing to even higher levels, sometimes bubbling on sopranino from below, sometimes blasting on tenor from above and sometimes visa-versa. Lisle Ellis is a transplanted contrabass hero & old friend of mine originally from Vancouver where he was in a duo/trio with the dazzling pianist-Paul Plimley and did a spell with Cecil Taylor. Both Lisle & drummer Donald Robinson are a magnificent rhythm team, elastic, ever changing & ever challenging all who play with them. This is an incredible date from beginning to end. Magical improv at it’s true height! $14. 7. PACHORA-unn (KFW 230) Second superb offering from Pachora and even more exotic, festive and fun! Pachora consists of Chris Speed on clarinet only, Brad Shepik on electric saz mostly, but also on tanbura, banjar & tres, Skuli Sverrisson on bass & bajo sexta and Jim Black on dumbek, snare, bass drum & assorted small percussion. Most of the tunes are originals by each member and each piece is a wonderful mid/Euro eastern groove where both Chris’ clarinet and Brad’s saz swirl around each other or double each other’s lines in a delicious stew of mesmerizing melodies. Considering this quartet is made of three American downtowners (two from Bloodcount) and one Scandinavian (from Mo Boma), they sound utterly convincing as an ensemble from eastern Europe by way of the middle east. Skuli’s bass & Jim’s dumbek constantly provide a hypnotic pulse that pulls us into their ancient to modern spell. Never have I heard Chris’ clarinet sound so smooth & precious, and the dark beauty of Brad’s saz continually adds perfect spice, especially on "Invocation". $13. (CD release party 1/24 at 8pm at the Knit) 8. WILLIAM HOOKER-The Distance Between Us (KFW 231) Although writers would often tag William as an energy drummer/leader, this has never been the whole story. William often selects musicians for his ever-changing ensemble with care and often comes up with surprising choices of players and ideas to try out. Although there are ten musicians employed on this release, he begins this with a solo excursion for his own warm voice & minimal percussion, which is followed by a mellow duo cover of "Pure Imagination" for piano & drums. I can’t recall William ever covering tunes by other composers, but here he does two versions of Sonic Youth’s "Because (of You)", complete with twin twisted guitars, a Can-like throb rock beat and vocals by Gisburg!?! Which brings us to his "Sensor Suite", more of that immense energy propulsion of his past. Musicians of note include Sabir Mateen & Charles Compo on saxes, Lewis Barnes on trumpet, Mark Hennen on piano, and Jesse Henry, Brian Doherty, Ed Flynn & Dan Lilly on guitars and/or basses. Explosive & dense in parts, William always does a fine job of pushing each player to his or her best. Immense waves of piano, sand-blasting saxophones, insane trumpeting. William even pulls out short melodic fragment compositions for the players to occasionally meet, an island in the storm. $13. 9. ROBERT MUSSO & PROFESSOR SHEHAB-Ataxia (Baraka Foundation 0008) Bob Musso, as most of you all should know, is a longtime engineer & collaborator for & with Bill Laswell, once led improv terrorists-Machine Gun & the MuWorks label where I helped out and recorded three cds for the Fax label under the Transonic name. Professor Shehab is a member of the Crooklyn Dub Consortium with numerous releases on the WordSound label. Together they put together this nifty space/dub/ambient/groove work goes through drum n’bass and dub grooves hypnotically stirring in bits of Bob’s distinctive space guitars, acoustic and electric. Each of the five long pieces center around some cosmic drone and dub percussion echoing around the mix. Samples of ethnic percussion, thick Laswellian bass grooves and layers of reverberating sounds swirl in a haze of spicy soup throughout the proceedings. Perfect music to accompany a big spliff! Relax and float up stream. Good job, Bob. Yah mon. $14. 10. DENMAN MARONEY-Hyperpiano (Mon$ey Music) Twenty-five years ago Denman was a member of the Negative Band, comprised of students from Cal Arts. They recorded a rare lp for the Finnadar label, covering two pieces of Stockhausen’s, no small feat American college students. In recent years Denman Maroney has recorded and performed with Marc Dresser’s ensembles. Denman specializes in extended technique exploration of the piano, usually working inside the piano with bowls and other objects to get unusual sounds. I have always been both fascinated and perplexed by all of the unique sounds he gets. ‘Hyperpiano’ is his first solo work, it is self-produced and in a world of its own. There are three 20 plus minute pieces found here and each explores new realms of inner piano weirdness. Each piece involves a specific idea to explore. "Flux Time" utilizes three tempos simultaneously, but sounds like a music box breaking down, going in different directions at the same time. "Artemisia" involves moving objects across the piano strings, producing high end spirits whispering mysterious clouds of fractured notes. Pretty scary at times. "On the Contrary" employs sliding objects along the strings, rumbling through a dark terrain, ancient ruins uncovered, myths revealed. Too much for some, just enough for the adventurous…$12. 11. ROBERT EEN-Your Life is not Your Own (Buzzbox 1111) For solo cello & voice. A complete delight. It is interesting how some of our finest cellists are also fine vocalists. David Darling often does that high vocalese with his playing and Hank Roberts also enjoys accompanying his cello with his warm voice. Robert Een has been both a cellist and a vocalist since an early age, hence he is a wonder at both endeavors and seems to work them together perfectly. This is his fourth release on his own label, but it is his first completely solo recording. Both his warm & lovely voice and beautiful cello playing inhabit a similar range, they always fit together as one lovely, lyrical force. As he mentions in the liner notes-the cello is quite versatile-imitating the voice, strumming like a guitar, walking like a bass…so he employs all of these ideas to caress his pure voice. His songs/lyrics are often tender and melancholy ditties that are easy to remember and sing along with. There is a refreshing purity to all of this, none of that neurotic NY angst or avant atonal insanity so often found in much downtown music making. A sigh of relief. $13. 12. ROBERT EEN/BIG JOE-The Rook OST (Buzzbox 1112) Cellist & vocalist-Robert Een-is known for his longtime collaborations with Meredith Monk. In the past decade he has released a lovely duo cello cd (‘Music of Blue Earth’), as well a fine cd with his ensemble Big Joe. Just back from an Asian tour, he has two new cds out (one is a solo cello & voice work) this is the soundtrack to the movie-The Rook with members of his Big Joe unit, he composed all of the music. His ensemble includes Steve Elson on reeds, Carter Burwell on keyboard, Bond Bergland on guitar, Hearn Gabois on exotic percussion, Paul Nowinski on bass and Andy Tierstein. You may recognize some of these names from their work with Sussan Deyhim or Carter’s own soundtrack work. The music is exquiste, sad, almost chamber music with a melancholy gothic sort of quality. Dark beauty, eastern European feel, sometimes due to Hearn’s hand drums. The pieces are fairly short, variations of recurring themes, haunting melodies and definitely made to accompany visuals. Uplifting, playful and even circus like in spots. Delightfully sad. $13. 13. LILI BONICHE-Boniche Dub (APC 009) With Bill Laswell on basses & production. No, I hadn’t heard of Algerian guitarist & vocalist Lili Boniche either before this cd arrived. And it came in with another Boniche cd called "Alger Alger", also produced by Laswell, but Bill’s influence seemed quite minimal and that cd was a disappointment, very normal world music. On "Boniche Dub", Bill has worked his magic, by selecting the instrumentation of guitars, piano, violin & drums, as well as ethnic axes like darbouka & mandole, and dubbing, echoing exotic spice into the mix. This is mostly instrumental, but we even get some of Boniche’s vocals mixed in dubwise as well. Bill’s ever-present thick el bass provides the cosmic groove, a middle-eastern flavor flows throughout. There is a sort of a psychedelic underlying current, where things often slow down and speed up, instruments mutate and become unrecognizable, yet most effective in the haze of events. Bill succeeds at dub music that is not reggae at its source. Pass the hashish and take a big toke. Most impressive. $14. 14. THE MNEMONISTS-Horde (ReR MN1) Incredibly bizarre and important first cd reissue by this legendary avant ensemble from Colorado, who transmutated and became Biota! Totally unique at creating a sound world of their own, the Mnemonists were unlike anything else to come from the US or even the planet earth. A classic work of almost indescribable noise, twisted & mutant sounds, dense and changing alien environments. Microscopic beings slowly descending into other places, where things seem only vaguely familiar. What the hell is this stuff?!? Instrumentation includes crumhorns, soprano shawn, false crwth, recorder, clarinets, voice…but they have been manipulated beyond recognition. Also included is their intricate & equally strange artwork. I was lucky enough to have seen the one & only Biota gig of their entire career at New Music America in Montreal in 1990-I probably shouldn’t have been tripping, it was weird enough on its own to put anyone in attendance into an altered state. Need I say more? $14. 15. PAUL DUNMALL OCTET-Bebop Starburst (Cuneiform 112) In the past decade tenor saxist-Paul Dunmall seems to be popping up in all the right places of the British jazz scene. First, there were numerous releases with Elton Dean, including Elton’s great sax ensemble, then there are the four powerful free jazz gems from Keith Tippett’s Mujician qt., he is also a member of the London Jazz Composers Orchestra. I’ve even picked up a cd by an unknown British jazz drummer Peter Fairclough’s unit because Dunmall was the only member I knew & it turned out to be another winner. He even pops up on cds by Brit folk-rockers like Richard Thompson, certainly an immensely diverse individual. This is the second cd by Paul incredible octet and it is another amazing outing. This five part release begins with short blast of bebop burnin’, but that’s the only bop thing here. It even ends with a short dose of mainstream swinging, but it is what's in between that really takes off. Although the octet includes all four members of the totally free Mujician qt. (Keith Tippett, Paul Rogers on bass & Tony Levin on drums), there is so much more going on. The octet also includes other member of the LJCO-Simon Picard on tenor, Annie Whitehead on trombone, as well as newcomers Chris Bridges on trombone & Gethin Liddington on trumpet. There are two 20 minute pieces which show the ferocious side of this unit, blasting with intensity not unlike Keith Tippett’s "Dedicated to You…", recorded almost thirty years ago!! Dunmall’s writing is a challenge to all members and solos continually blow minds. Nice to see/hear a domestic release from this superb cast. $13. 16. MOTOR TOTEMIST GUILD- City Of Mirrors (Rune 1101) Brilliant composer James Grigsby has revived his MTG group as a 14 piece "little big band", including Emily Hay-flute & vocals, Eric Johnson-bassoon, Vinny Golia & Lynn Johnston-saxes & clarinets, Joseph Berardi-drums, Dave Kerman-percussion & others on trumpet, trombones, piano & synthesizer, guitar, mallett percussion & contrabass! The compositions the band perform range from a short, almost pop ditty to longer works which stylistically mix classical elements with jazz-stylings & solos to a massive work that features a graphic score, improvisation, as well as after the fact studio manipulations. $13 17. HAPPY THE MAN- Death’s Crown (55015) Composed & performed in late 1974, Death's Crown was written as a collaborative work with dancers, actors, lighting & coordinated slide shows - a multi-media event staged at local dinner theatre in their hometown. The piece was' performed several times, but was not a regular part of their repertoire, although parts of the work were regular performed by the band in concert. Rehearsal tapes of the band performing Death’s Crown were recently found this marks the first time that this material has ever been heard. $13 18. MOTHER MALLARD'S PORTABLE MASTERPIECE CO. - 1970-73 (Rune 109) The first album and previously unreleased recordings from the world's first all-synthesizer ensemble. They were also one of the very first (possibly the first) performing synthesizer ensembles, working closely with Robert Moog, whose first factory was nearby. This material pre-dates or is contemporary with the first work of Kraftwerk & Tangerine Dream. A uniquely American slant on synthesizer music by a band whose pioneering contributions to the genre had been forgotten until now. $13 19. HOPPY KAMIYAMA-Juice and Tremelo (Sonor 02) Label head, producer, violin & keys/sampler player, cross-dresser and all-rounder enigma-Hoppy Kamiyama is back to confound us all once again. His label- God Mountain has been in limbo for a couple of years now, so this is his first solo release in quite some time on the French label-Sonor. This is a compilation of sorts which consists of a variety of projects Hoppy has been working on since as far back as ’92. The first half of this cd contains four string quartets, but it is not quite that simple. While the first string qt. is an interesting modern piece of slightly twisted strings, the second piece is interspersed with sections of laughter & screaming, until the laughter completely takes over. Another string qt. piece is pushed along with drums & metals, nifty. The first half ends with great noisy track by Hoppy’s crazed improv unit-Optical 8, a blast of brutal noise! The second half mostly is made up of music for four Japanese TV commercials. Guests include Otomo, Hideo Yamaki, Steve Eto, more string players and bands called Vundumuna & the Space Insects (all new to me). This side begins with a tranquil, minimal piece for solo piano by Hoppy and then onto TVland. The pieces for TVare mostly silly, quick changing, multi genre cartoon like stuff. Welcome back. Import for $15. 20. DAVID MOSS-Time Stories (Intakt 054) Featuring vocalists Catherine Jauniaux, Phil Minton & Makigami Koichi, musicians Heiner Goebbels & Hans Peter Kuhn and turntablists Christian Marclay & Frank Schulte. David was an early part of downtown as a unique percussionist and vocalist & did collaborations with Frith, Zorn, Chadbourne, Tom Cora &Charles Noyes and was a member of the first Golden Palominos. His Dense Band included many of downtown’s finest players. Originally from Vermont, he has been living in Berlin for about a decade. His recordings come out rarely and each one is special. ‘Time Stories’ is a retrospective of David’s quarter century musical journey with varied collaborators. It is a series of live duos with either each of the four amazing vocalists or four fine players. It is broken up into seven suites, each suite contains two to four duo performances. The wonderful liner notes & pix tell stories of each of David’s collaborators. It all flows together seamlessly as an aural movie, each duo an intimate encounter with those special musicians who have enriched David’s life. The sound manipulators-Marclay, Goebbels, Kuhn & Schulte-do a good job of adding some dark & weird sounds to the brew, while each of the distinctive vocalists push & pull David into other human-sounding worlds. A few weeks back Catherine Jauniaux (wife of the late Tom Cora) was a special guest at a superb Zorn improv evening at Tonic-she wowed the packed audience as she always has done, many had no clue who she was. Both Will Oldham & Jewlia of Charming Hostess came into DMG searching for anything they could find by Catherine. Unfortunately, there is so little in print. Her five duos on this cd would be a good place to start. The duos with Minton & Makigami add to the hilarity factor. Altogether a gem! $15. 21. CHARMING HOSTESS-Eat (Vaccination 016) I made the mistake of playing this immensely charming cd at the store last Saturday-three people immediately wanted copies of their own & we only had two in stock. I had to break up a fight between this yiddisha grandma & a young Hasidic punk over who was gonna walk out with this gem. Grandma arm-wrestled & won. Charming Hostess are from the Bay area and have a most appropriate name. They feature three female vocalists upfront, who sing great wacky harmonies, catchy & odd! These vocalists are so cool that Zorn will be putting out an acapella cd of theirs on Tzadik later this year. What makes this release so special, is the material, either written or selected most often by Jewlia Eisenberg. Charming Hostess cover some of the strangest lyrics to come from klezmer tunes from around the world, which are translated & sung in English so one can laugh out loud at their absurdity. They even cover a Residents tune, an African-American work song and a white gospel song. Is nothing sacred? Who cares? The music also has a herky-jerky sort of charm as well. Totally fun and totally cool. Don’t worry bubbies, Jewlia is sending us out some more cds soon!! $14. 22. LONDON JAZZ COMPOSERS ORCHESTRA-Double Trouble Two (Intakt 053) Magnificent!! This is as amazing as it gets for a modern jazz orchestra, twenty five years since their inception, this is their eighth release for the Intakt label and word is that it might be their last! Led by contrabass giant, composer and conductor-Barry Guy and featuring the cream of the British jazz scene-Evan Parker, Trevor Watts, Paul Dunmall, Paul Rutherford and Phil Wachsmann, a 19 piece all-star orchestra. "Double Trouble" seems like an appropriate title, perhaps because the rhythm section has been doubled with astounding guests-the twin piano storm of Irene Schweizer & Marilyn Crispell, the massive double basses of Barre Phillips & Guy himself, and the double drum fury of Pierre Favre & Paul Lytton. Much of this music can be spine tinglingly exciting and intoxicatingly intense, often exploding into masses of well written orchestral sonorities. Barry Guy keeps everyone on their toes, levels of density constantly shifting, monstrous solos abound too many to name. There are a variety of sub-groups and sections that come into their own as this work unfolds. Completely brilliant from first note to last, immensely demanding and worthy of seriously listening. My friends & I remember two incredible sets by the LJCO at Victo a few years back, quite a revelation and shock to all attendees. Let us hope that this will not be their final offering. A masterwork, indeed! $15. 23. MATTHEW OSTROWSKI-Vertebra (Pogus 21016) Matt is a synth player who was a member of the downtown scene a few years back. He did a number of Cobras at the old Knit, was a member of an early Shimmy band-Krackhouse and even recorded a trio cd with a couple of European improvisers. He has been living and studying in Amsterdam for the past few years and this is where this solo was conceived and recorded. He has obviously refined his sounds & explorations, I can recall some of the extreme sounds he used to employ with those Cobras. ‘Vertebra’ is named a computer program and consists of four long pieces, each one building in density and intensity. The first two pieces assemble electronic sounds/samples into collages that never get too harsh or extreme. There is some space between many of the interesting snippets Matt has sewn together. It gives us a chance to breathe and think, rather than be overwhelmed with a mass of noise. The second two pieces are a bit more dense, sounds flying in clouds, but once again the selective use of sounds or samples never gets to be too much. A most impressive and unique world of sound(s). Hats off to Pogus for continually releasing challenging music at a fair price. It can be done. $10. 24. ROBERT RUTMAN-1939 (Pogus 21017) Robert Rutman invents, builds & plays steel cellos, buzz chimes and bow chimes. He has collaborated with Einsturzende Neubauten in recent years. This cd is a reissue of an lp recorded in 1989, with a 20 minute piece added. There are four duos and one trio with Carsten Tiedemann on tabla, bow chime & steel cello and Danny Orlansky on Tibetan horn, bow chime & steel cello as well. Each of these five pieces are long, heavy drones which unwind slowly building to thicker more prominent cosmic drones. The chanting on track three sounds like the Gyuto monks, with it’s ancient sounding resonance. Track four is for "Three Bow Chimes" and drones on 16 plus minutes, requiring patience as the bows chimes slowly hum, drift, sail together & apart. Eerie yet quite calming in an odd sort of way, like boats passing in the dark distance. The final (bonus) track is even longer & recorded live in Berlin for three steel cellos. It is the scariest of the bunch, with the spirits howling, disembodied voices pleading for release and mystical forces emanating from the depths. Only $10.
